“Rakuvaria Demo” with Ine and Ed Knops

Sunday, 8 November
1:00 PM – 5:00 PM
€30 per person

Ine and Ed Knops will give an extensive demonstration and share their many years of experience.

You will see, among other things:

• Working with a hemispherical plaster mould and Ine’s polishing technique
• A Raku gas kiln will be fired, with Ed demonstrating the entire Raku process, from glazing to the final result. You will see live how to fire Raku without excessive smoke, how to play with crackle effects and colour, how to fire more efficiently, and much more.
• Various smoke-firing techniques
• A clear explanation of how to carry out pit firing without sulphates
• How to easily build a wood-fired kiln that reaches up to 1300 °C
• Of course, there will be plenty of opportunity to ask questions!
• The Rakuvaria shop will also be open, with various special offers.

Hands-on experience!

After the demonstrations, you will work together with us on various smoke-firing techniques, including the burning of hair, string, feathers and sugar, black firing and the Russian “obvara” technique.

You can choose a 10–12 cm biscuit-fired vase, thrown and polished by Ed, and apply one of the demonstrated techniques yourself.

You can take your own finished piece home as a souvenir of this special day!

The €30 price includes coffee/tea, traditional Dutch vlaai and 1 vase.

Rakuvaria shop will be open!

The Rakuvaria shop will also be open during the demonstration.

Take advantage of various special offers throughout the day.
